Casinos are smart and don’t just randomly place their attractions. Everything has a strategy to it. I like to just try one machine for quite some time. If you don’t get anything at first, just wait a minute. There is no machine out there setup to pay absolutely nothing ever, I hope. So by spending a decent amount of time at each machine I try, I also increase my chances of a payout.

Slot Machines – U.K

Following on from the previous article about U.S style slot machines and Australian style pokies, we’ll have a look in this article at U.K style fruit machines.  Not to be confused with the ludicrous Canadian invention in the 1960′s to identify gay people, the modern fruit machine certainly stems from the concept of the slot machine but evolved much later, not really becoming widely used in the U.K until the 1960′s and 1970′s.

are a common feature in pubs and clubs, traditional amusement arcades and even many smaller outlets such as food takeaways.

They differ from slot machines in that they are considerably more complex.  Spinning the wheels is only the beginning in that the resulting combination can move the player onto to other games on the machine.  These can be Hi/Lo gambles, random prize wins for a particular lit square, gambles for more nudges or in fact a myriad of add-on opportunities.  It should go without saying though that as with the slot machines, payouts are limited to a percentage of the takings and more games do not mean more winnings.

Themes new fruit machines are based around are often based on current movies or sports related in the way that pinball machines historically are.
